The Rare Kilkenny Wagon

The Rare Kilkenny Wagon!
Kilkenny is also known as ‘The Marble City’ due to most buildings being built of black limestone. Arguably the most popular of Kilkenny’s landmarks is Kilkenny Castle, with its rose garden, Castle Park and grounds. Check out Kilkenny’s Medieval Mile and discover a trail running through the city linking the 13th-century St. Canice’s Cathedral and the Anglo-Norman Castle with much more in between.

Did you know Kilkenny woman Mabel Cahill (1863-1905) was an Irish female tennis player, and was the first foreign woman to win a major tennis tournament when she won the 1891 US National Championship? How about Kilkenny native Alice Kyteler (1263-1325)? She was the first recorded person condemned for witchcraft in Ireland. She fled the country escaping being burned at the stake. A little bit of trivia for you!

Kilkenny is a vibrant city steeped in history and it offers a year-long programme celebrating arts, culture, wellness, economics and animation among others.
